It's Been Way Too Long ... living vintage

I cannot believe that I started a blog in 2011 and never got around to keeping up with it!

It has been way too long ~~~ I hope I don't get haters for saying this, but I'm not much into blogs.  There are a few reasons for this.  For starters, personally, I just don't have the time!  Let's face it, there are only so many hours in a day, and after taking my photos for my shop(s), then editing to make them look presentable, uploading them and creating the listing and then networking each and every new item and some old items, I AM EXHAUSTED!

But ~~~ I keep reading that this is a must for anyone selling online.

It's not that I don't have a lot to say.  So I am going to approach this as a way to release my thoughts.  You can agree or not, like or dislike, but I hope you don't find it too boring!  If you like what I'm showing, please show it to a friend.  I can use all the help I can get!

This is my women's vintage clothing shop.  I have all sorts of pretty frocks, shoes, blouses, rompers, etc from many time periods.

And this is my second shop, sort of what I like to call my "stepchild" 'cause I never paid much attention to it since I was way too busy with the first shop.  But I have a renewed interest in this shop and have included everything else vintage, i.e., housewares, gift items, collectibles, oddities, handbags, belts, scarves and jewelry.  I may have left some things out, so you can check it out yourself.

Today, I'm feeling "fall/autumn".  The humidity is gone, the sun is shining and there is a little bit of a breeze.  It doesn't get better than this.

This is my outfit for the day.  I'm not wearing it, just selling it.  The dress will be posted soon.  The belt is at looseeends and the handbag will soon be listed in looseends.

I did it!  I uploaded a photo and wrote a passage for my own personal vintage fashion blog!  Maybe I'll get lucky and someone will read it.  If not, I still feel proud of myself.  Cheers to more to come, maybe tomorrow?

I'm Back!!!

Rather quickly, too!

As I'm preparing to get dressed myself and deciding which dress I should wear today, I got so excited I needed to come back on and post some more of my vintage dresses.  I'm thinking yellow today or right now in any case.  The sun is shining and I hope it stays that way.

I adore all the colors being shown for spring and summer.  It seems everything and anything goes.  First I heard "mint" was all the rage, then pastels, etc. etc.  But in reality, every color in the rainbow and beyond is popping up.  And who cares anyway what the fashion "experts" dictate anyway.  It's your style.  It's your body.  Wear what you love and feel good in.  Here are my picks for the moment, from my shop at http://www.rileybella123.etsy.com/.  I'll be back.  Right now I have 66 vintage dresses for sale in my shop, one better than the next.

Cheers ~~~

New Beginnings

Dear me, I see I haven't posted since July, 2011 and that is my only post!

I keep being told that I need to blog.  And I like to write and I do have lots to say.  But I keep thinking, who on earth really wants to hear what I have to say.  And why or why are there so many people blogging?  Well, maybe I just don't get it, but I've realized that this will be more of a journal, of sorts, for me.  In particular, my fashion journal.

It's a beautiful spring day here in the Northeast.  It could be a little warmer, but I'm not complaining.  I can get outside and take some pictures of my fabulous vintage clothes, et al.

Let me begin with I LOVE DRESSES, almost every kind.  Long ones, short ones and everything in between.  I may not be able to wear the very short ones anymore, but still love them.  It reminds me of decorating a home.  I used to do that too in my past life.  Some styles may not be my taste but I can appreciate them nonetheless.  If I can't see myself in a particular style of dress, I certainly can see someone else in it.

So, I am going to try to post some of my recent vintage dress finds for the spring and summer months.

Perhaps I will be back on later on. Maybe if I do this enough, I will become addicted to it.  It's still early in the morning and I'm still waking up.

Hope you enjoy!

Lazy Days of Summer

Up to this point, I did not really "get" blogging.  I mean, how many bloggers are out there anyway?  Who has the time to read all this stuff?  To be honest, I wish I did have the time to see what people have to say, especially about vintage clothing.  But today is the 4th of July, Independence Day in the USA.  And I'm feeling relaxed and am spending the day doing what I haven't had time to do in the past.  So, I'm starting my blog.  I feel it's like a journal for me.  A place for me to put down in words my thoughts, particularly about vintage fashion, etc.  Maybe nobody really cares.  Why should they?  I'm a past-middle-aged woman who should not really be in touch with what's fashionable and what's not.  BUT, I think my brain got stuck somewhere in my 20s.

I have loved fashion and getting dressed up "pretty" since I was little.  I attribute this to my wonderful mom, who has been gone for quite a while now.  I think from the time I could walk she would bring me down to New York City, Canal Street, Delancy Street, etc, where she would bargain and buy from the Jewish merchants.  You see my mom sold goods to the Bronx neighborhood women who could not get into the Big City, and she would give them great prices too.

So, as a young one, I would watch and look and listen. I was always told not to say anything, and since I was a good little girl, I would observe.  Well, fast forward to my adult years and I realize I had a real desire to own the Vanity Fair, Roxanne, Maidenform, etc. lingerie from the past.  When compared to present day lingerie, well there is  no comparison.

Fashion and clothing have always been important to me.  After I started collecting the vintage lingerie, I started to discover vintage dresses and blouses and shoes and handbags....classics.  So I started my shops on etsy.  (www.rileybella123.etsy.com and www.looseendsvintage.com).  I love what I do...

Which brings me back to Independence Day.  What a wonderful country we live in.  A place where you can find what you like to do and then go out there and conquer the world, so to speak.  No matter how old or how young, you can make yourself happy!

In closing my little "essay" for the day, think about how lucky we all are.  I know I am very grateful to live in the USA!
